Altar Server Schedule
NEW ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED - Will you be in third grade or above this fall? If you have considered joining this beautiful ministry, we need you NOW! With many of our altar servers graduating, our parish really needs your help. This commitment is for one to two Masses per month. Thorough training and shadowing a current altar server will be provided. Please pick up a registration for at the doors of the Church. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on the altar!
Interested boys and girls are welcome to begin this ministry and are encouraged to continue his ministry through high school. Our parish website provides additional information on how to get started for those interested in becoming an altar server.
Reminder- when you are unable a serve a scheduled Mass, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. Altar Servers assist the Priest with the Mass, please do not leave it to the Priest to figure this out. Please honor your commitment.

Lead Altar Server- Lead Altar Servers have at least three full years of experience as an Altar Server. They have mastered service of the regular Mass and have participated in multiple special occasion Masses. Lead Altar Servers are the Peer Leaders of the Ministry. They help train other servers, particularly Apprentices. Those who aspire to this level of service should ask the Pastor to promote them to this level and a training class will be provided.
Senior Servers Senior Altar Servers have served at special occasions and are capable of fulfilling almost all of the needs of the Parish for Altar Service. Served in all positions (CROSS and CANDLES); served at least two special Masses or services (Easter Vigil, Christmas Midnight, Stations of the Cross) . Those seeking this level of service should ask the Pastor to promote them to this level. A training class will be provided and Senior servers commit to serving while in High School.
Apprentice Servers The Apprentice Program gives new Altar Servers the opportunity to learn by closely watching experienced Altar Servers. The Apprentice's job is to watch and learn. Apprentices dress in albs and walk in procession with the regular Altar Servers. An apprentice will be assigned the position of book holder for a minimum of three masses. Persons meeting the requirements to become an Altar Server are admitted to the Apprentice level after attending a new Altar Server training.
ALTAR SERVER'S PRAYER: Loving Father, Creator of the universe, you call your people to worship, to be with you and each other at Mass. Help me, for you have called me also. Keep me prayerful and alert. Help me to help others in prayer. Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. Keep me true to that trust. I make my prayer in Jesus' name, who is with us in the Holy Spirit. Amen.
DEFINITION OF ALTAR SERVER: It is a great privilege to serve at the Altar of our God and therefore Servers are chosen from those who display a desire for a more intimate union with our Lord and God, Jesus Christ. Our loving Savior becomes present on the Altar, just as He was at the Last Supper and Calvary. Accordingly, Servers have a responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence.
DRESS CODE FOR ALTAR SERVERS
SHOES – dress shoes or something respectful. Please no slippers or dirty sneakers should be worn.
HAIR – Hair should be neat and combed.
Proper Dress: Please remember to dress as if you were going to a special occasion.
JEWELRY/ HATS/ BLING – Do not wear anything that will make noise and/or will be distracting, or that will cause you to have problems serving.
SHIRTS: Appropriate attire is necessary.
ALTAR SERVER RULES
v Attend Altar Sever Training Classes
v Altar Servers should not leave the sanctuary after the start of Mass for any reason except bathroom emergencies, illness, or when directed to do so by the priest.
v Serve at every mass that you are scheduled for, or make arrangements to have someone cover the mass
v Arrive at least 15 minutes before the Mass starts to get dressed and make sure that the Altar is prepared
v Perform the duties assigned during the mass in the prescribed orderly manner.
v Maintain a prayerful posture during all times in the Sacristy (if you are not doing something your hands should be folded in your lap)
v Be quiet and respectful when on the Altar, you are role models
v Be attentive and respond immediately when the priest asks for help
v Make sure that your alb and cincture are returned the way you found them
