NOTES FROM THE PASTOR

First of all, let me start by wishing you a Happy Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer! But please, may none of us forget what this holiday is about… we pause to remember all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country over its history. As much as we all love a good burger or hot dog as we fire up the grills for the first time, may we first stop and offer a prayer for the fallen heroes. We also “thank” those who have served and pray for those serving in our military today.

It was another busy week at Our Lady of Lourdes School. We continue to get new enrollments for next year (Pre0School, Kindergarten, Grades 1-4), and the children are starting to get ready for the summer vacation. This week we had our rosary procession at the grotto. We also enjoyed our first ever Robotics Olympiad. The 3rd and 4th graders visited the orchestra in Providence.

We are still waiting to close on the sale of the old rectory. The Diocese anticipates a few more weeks for everything to be finalized. The parish collaborations meetings are ongoing. I know this has been an exhausting time for many of our parishioners, but the committees anticipate making their recommendations to the Bishop on June 26th. Keep praying!

The parish visits both Arbors Assisted Living on the last Wednesday of the month and All American Assisted Living on the first Wednesday of the month. We also make visits to the homebound and those who request the anointing of the sick. Please call the parish and we and we will schedule a time to visit.

Thank you to all of our teachers and staff for another successful Faith formation year. We confirmed 17 teenagers, 3 adults, and 21 first communion students. Registration for next year will take place in August.

The Holy Ghost feast is quickly approaching on June 9th. Mark the date on your calendar.

This week we celebrate Ascension Thursday, just a reminder that it is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Finally, if you are celebrating a graduation this year, we wish you many blessings. Congrats on your achievement.
